Hypnotherapy And Its Application
Hypnosis has been used from the ancient days for therapeutic purposes and the modern day involves using the process for healing the mental diseases and for psychological counselling.
Hypnotherapy and its Application
Hypnotherapy and hypnosis are closely related to each other and the term is derived from a Greek word ‘Hypnos’, meaning sleep. The process mainly involves psychological counselling and therapy that is meant to address the psychological and emotional disorders and disturbances.
The technique involves bringing about a deep relaxation in the person concerned and putting them into a kind of trance where the person responses excellently to the suggestions put forth by the therapist. It is to be noted here that the hypnotherapist, under no condition, can control the free will and the mind of the patient. It has been seen that the person in hypnosis or trance is generally very responsive to the suggestion and this aids in the treatment.
The main aim and purpose of hypnotherapy is psychological counselling and thus addresses the emotional problems that the person might face, which hinders his normal psychological function.
Hypnosis along with hypnotherapy helps in assisting people to find healthy and meaningful alternatives to the problems that they are facing and hypnotherapy is distinctively helpful in addressing the subconscious mind of the person in question and targets the problem, thus helping him to come to terms with his or her real self.
The therapy is useful as it helps not only in addressing the problems, but also releases the full inner potential of the person and helps him to overcome the negativities in him.
The hypnotherapist uses a soothing voice to encourage deep relaxations in the patient before he starts to work on him and in this stage, they become very sensitive to suggestion. The mind is the ready to absorb the positive suggestions, which are consciously introduced by the therapist.
There have been many studies on how exactly hypnosis and hypnotherapy works and the scientists are not quite sure how exactly it works. It is generally believedthat the autonomic nervous system controls all the functions of the body when we are sleeping and it has been seen that the suggestions and the words of the psychotherapists affects the central nervous system while the person is awake.
Hypnosis helps in distracting the conscious mind, which is the most important step in inducing hypnosis. There are various hypnotherapy techniques, but it all depends on the patient and the technique that he responds to the best.
Hypnosis actually helps to reprogram the subconscious mind of the person and it is excellent to treat phobias and addiction and reduce pain in certain cases. It is also useful in treating the other complaints and is very useful in treating many physical and mental disorders like neuroses, eating disorder and habitual problematic disorder in conjunction with other methods.
