Improving public speaking skills with Hypnosis
There are numerous definitions of hypnosis.
However it could be described as a cooperative interaction where one individual responds to another individual who may be the hypnotist. While most people tend to think that hypnosis is a state when one gets into a trance, it should be looked at as one, where one is focused and responsive to suggestions and even fantasy. Most people tend to think that they cannot be hypnotised though in practice it is only about 10 % that are difficult to be hypnotised.
Hypnosis can be used to treat some medical conditions. Hypnosis can also be used to overcome anxiety, build self confidence and calm a person. It also helps people think positively and get a better understanding of their own ability.
Making public speeches can cause anxiety in many people even when they are experts in the topic they are expected to deliver. This stage fright can be fear of being questioned by the audience, basic insecurity that other speakers deliver better speeches, fear that they may not be able to capture the attention of the audience, lack of good language skills and most of all fear of appearing foolish before a large audience.
Hypnosis can help public speakers overcome most of these fears. Using deep relaxation techniques it helps them focus on themselves and build self confidence. They also get to belief in themselves and their internal strengths. One area that hypnosis helps is in teaching the individual to use visualization techniques and practice the speech and experience the feeling of delivering the speech. This will enable the speaker to deliver with calmness and confidence.
During hypnosis the hypnotist in interacting with a speaker makes him understand that the audience respects him and that’s why he has been chosen to speak. In most instances the speaker is afraid that the listeners would not be interested in him and that they can tell if he is nervous.
It is a case of not believing in oneself and learning to understand that the audience is there to hear him speak and not to judge his performance. The hypnotist by getting him to relax gets him to look forward to public speaking and enjoy the event. He gets on to the stage with a feeling that he will be able to stand tall and share his thoughts proudly
Hypnosis helps a person overcome his inner fears and helps him feel proud and confident and improves his public speaking skills. Most people have a phobia about public speaking. Hypnosis helps individuals overcome these fears.
