Hypnotic Induction
There are different hypnotic induction techniques. Depending on the circumstances, some techniques are more effective than the others. However, each hypnotist has his own favourite method that he employs. Sometimes in their sessions, hypnotists may also switch between 2 or more techniques.
The eye fixation method is a classic hypnosis induction technique.
This method begins with instructing the subject to close his eyes for a while. Then he is asked to open and raise them to the ceiling and keep gazing at a particular point till such time the eyes grow heavy and tired and just dozes away.
The subject is then in a state of relaxation. Meanwhile the hypnotist works towards accessing the subconscious state and gives suggestions in that state. This is not used much anymore by hypnotists as compared to other modern methods.
Next there is the confusion method.
A type of hypnosis induction where the subject is asked to start counting backwards in the descending order starting from, say, 400 or 300. The hypnotist counts along with him for a while and then stops. When the subject is focusing on the counting, the hypnotist begins introducing another method, thereby creating confusion in the minds of the subject.
Then there is also the arm drop method.
The hypnosis induction begins with instructing your subject to hold his arm above his head. He is then commanded to gaze at one of his fingers and then to close his eyes. The hypnotist keeps on repeating that the arm is getting to be heavier and it will be seen that the hand is actually coming down. When the hand falls completely flat, the subject is in a trance, during which time the hypnotist can use his covert technique.
There are a few other techniques as well like hand to face method and the arm levitation technique.
The hand to face is similar to the confusion method. The hypnotist begins to shake the subject’s hand and before it actually happens, grasps it and lifts it to the face, instructing him to close his eyes. In arm levitation, the subject is talked into believing that there is an object tied to his wrist which is lifting his hand. When the arm actually starts rising, the subject will get into a trance.
Whatever may be the hypnosis induction method you may want to adopt, ensure it is applied for a sincere cause and not for any kind of manipulation.
